Mega Semadhi – Founder of DAYA

For Mega, surfing has never been just a sport. It's a way of life, a connection to home, and a constant reminder that some of the most important things cannot be controlled — only felt.

Born and raised in Pecatu on Bali's Bukit Peninsula, Mega grew up with the ocean as his backyard. He started surfing at 9, and by 13 was competing internationally with Ripcurl. The sea shaped not only the surfer he became, but how he sees the world.

Years in the water taught him that surfing is about patience, instinct, and respect for nature. Bali hosts some of the world's best waves and surfers. Mega wanted to show the world what Balinese and Indonesian surfers could offer — and that belief became DAYA.

Rooted in Bingin, DAYA was born from a desire to bring the spirit of surf culture into everyday life. A brand shaped by the people, places, and experiences that make Bali what it is — raw, free-spirited, deeply connected to local culture.

Surfing has always been Mega's way to experience the world while staying grounded in where he comes from. And as Bali continues to change, that connection matters more than ever. DAYA represents a piece of that identity: a reminder of the island beyond the crowds, the culture behind the coastline, and the local spirit that has always made its surf community special.

DAYA isn't about following trends or fitting into a mould. It's about living with intention, embracing individuality, and carrying the feeling of the ocean with you long after you've left the water.

Today, DAYA is a family affair. Mega's kids are part of the journey — playing in the store, chatting with guests, and having fun at the beach. Because the best things in life are rarely forced. Like a good wave, they come when you learn to feel, trust, and move with the moment.
